Denny and Candy Elwell selected as 2022 Parade Marshals
The Iowa State Fair Parade, August 10, 2022, at 6:15 p.m., serves as the official kick-off to the 2022 Iowa State Fair. Avid Fairgoers and loyal supporters of the Blue Ribbon Foundation, Denny and Candy Elwell have been selected to lead Iowa's largest parade through the streets of downtown Des Moines.
Denny and Candy Elwell's support of the Iowa State Fair has been unwavering. In 2009, their generosity made way for the newly built Elwell Family Food Center, and in 2021, the brand new Elwell Family Park was unveiled. Recognition as the 2022 Iowa State Fair Parade Marshal is a fitting tribute and a symbol of appreciation for the Elwell family's dedication to improving the Fair for future generations.
The parade will travel from the Capitol down Grand Avenue and march west to 15th Street. Over 135 entries are registered in this year's parade. Awards will be given in band, horse and general categories. Iowa PBS will broadcast live starting at 6:15 p.m.
